Well we had a great time at the 2014 Festival of Books at the University of Arizona! Two days of meeting new Violet fans and even some that already knew all about us. The weather was beautiful and the crowds were large, even a bit overwhelming at times. But we made it through and what a great experience it was! Next year we will be back with more books, more interaction for the kiddos and more pizazz. Can’t wait to do it all again and I hope all those new Violet readers out there enjoy the stories. ~Allison
Tomorrow, Saturday March 15th, 2014 marks the first day of the 2014 Tucson Festival of Books and My Black Dog Books’ first foray into public sale of our print books and meeting our fans in person. As I have stated over and over, Jeff and I hope to see as many of you there as possible. It’s a great event with something for everyone to enjoy!
As the weekend approaches I am working on finishing up the final touches for our booth at the Tucson Festival of Books. Yesterday I received two new print copies of our books in the mail to be proofed and approved for sale online – “Violet’s the Night Before Christmas” and “All I Want Is to Pet All of the Dogs!” Though neither printing was completed in time for sale at the Festival, both books will soon be available on the Amazon.com marketplace. We will, however, have copies of all 6 of our paperbacks on hand for viewing even if you cant take one home that day. Again, we (and I especially, as these books are my brainchildren) hope to see all of you at the Festival this weekend. Wish us luck! ~Allison
My Black Dog Books will be attending our first book festival, the Tucson Festival of Books, on March 15-16, 2014 on the University of Arizona main lawn. There will be hundreds of authors, illustrators and vendors and an estimated 120,000 visitors! Jeff and I are incredibly excited about showing off our newly printed Violet paperbacks. Multiple Violet stories will be available at our booth, with more on display and available for purchase online. There will also be an iPad on hand if you are interested in seeing and interacting with one of our many Apps.
We are new to the print book game so Jeff and I are hoping to see as many of our supporters out there as possible. Please check out the Festival of Books website for more information on exhibitors and special events/performances.
Looking for us at the Festival? Here is a map to our booth’s location (near the Children’s Entertainment Stage and the Steward Observatory):
Hi everyone! I know its been awhile since you’ve seen any new stories from My Black Dog Books, but rest assured they are on the way! Jeff is busy programing two new Violet stories and I am working on our upcoming Christmas book as well as a completely new series. I hope you all like what we have in the works. I will make sure to keep you updated! ~ Allison
Hi everyone! Here is a sneak peek at the newest Violet book (title is still a work in progress). Artwork is under way and the book will be out for download June, 2012.
Updates to “Violet’s Bunny Trouble” and “Witchemina” are now available in the App Store. These updates repair any bugs associated with the iPad 2 and iPad 3.
All you Violet fans out there will be excited to know that there are quite a few new Violet Apps in the works. I am now in the first drawing stages of our first 4th of July story, set for release June, 2012. Soon after that I will begin work on Violet’s first Thanksgiving book and the epic “Violet’s Nutcracker Suite,” her third and most elaborate Christmas tale. I am also near completion on a Valentines day story, so you can expect to see that in the iTunes App Store no later than January 2013!
The release of the iPad 3 means not only a new screen resolution, but new naming conventions for the programming code. We have learned that universal apps containing iPod/iPhone retina images must update their code to be compatible with the latest iPad programming format. Those apps not updated will not function on the new device. We are working our hardest to get our apps updated ASAP so you can continue to enjoy them on the latest Apple hardware. So please bear with us as we scramble to make the necessary changes!
UPDATE 3/20/2012: All apps are working perfectly on the new iPad. Thanks for supporting My Black Dog Books!
Only the following myBlackDogBooks Apps will be effected:
– Violet and the Candy Thief
– Violet’s 12 Days of Christmas
– The Body Language of Veronica Sue
If you’re interested in how we create our children’s books on the iPad and iPhone this is going to be a fun post to read. I’m going to write about in detail the process we go through in building high quality interactive books. Now this is not a definitive resource on how all digital publishers create their books – it is simply meant to lead you in the right direction.
